More than 8,000 flights have been canceled across the U.S. as a major storm expected to wreak havoc across much of the country bears down

Heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain are slamming large parts of the U.S. as the dangerously cold weather causes major power outages and travel disruptions.

Fox Carolina's Chief Meteorologist, Kendra Kent, is saying on Facebook that the heaviest amount of ice is expected midday Sunday.
