PENNSYLVANIA (WHTM) — On many traffic signals found throughout the United States and Pennsylvania, there is a small light that is placed in between or off to the side of the traffic signal lights.

Many red lights fail to detect smaller vehicles like bikes and scooters due to sensor limitations. Inductive loops, common in traffic signals, rely on sufficient metal mass to register a vehicle.
